PQ Monitoring
12.12.05

MonitOr is an unattended Software Management System which automatically keeps an eye on a Utility Power
Network and notifies the appropriate personnel when Quality of Supply or Outage events occur. MonitOr is optimised for the popular Windows 2000/XP operating system and utilises MS SQL Server 2000 as its database engine.

Low cost PMjuniOr Power Monitors are field units deployed at key
nodes in the Network. These monitor the mains supply voltage for
Under (2) and Over Voltage events or complete outages and report back to the MonitOr Central Station via the telephone network or cellular network (GPRS/CDMA pending).
The PMjuniOr records events in accurate real time, its trigger levels
and reporting parameters are remotely set. It plugs into a standard mains outlet and connects in parallel with any existing pstn phone. Data is transferred using DTMF tones which results in shorter calls than a modem. MonitOr with PMjuniOr is the perfect audit tool for reporting on SAIDI, SAIFI, CAIDI and CAIFI network quality statistics and proving feeder protection devices are coordinated.

MAIN USER INTERFACE
The main MonitOr GUI features two easy to use modes of operation. The first interface is a " Map" based interface presenting the user with a geographical picture of events as they happen. The second is a real-time text log of events as they come in from the field. Events may be colour coded to indicate severity and an on screen alarm may be generated to draw operator attention.

EVENT RESPONSES
MonitOr receives the event information from the field units and
actions a pre-programmed response to the appropriate personnel.
Event Responses may be via:

  • Email
  • Fax
  • Voice
  • Printout
  • SMS (to cell phone)
  • DNP3 SCADA

All responses except DNP3 are included as part of the basic
MonitOr Central Station.

SUMMARY
MonitOr has several standard reports which can be accessed on
demand or scheduled to be printed, faxed or emailed at a particular time and date. Customised reports can be added using a suitable reporting package such as Crystal reports.
