Policy and decision makers at councils and water utilities are often in the dark
about actual water consumption data in the absence of accurate metering.

There exists a great opportunity in New Zealand to build on water networks that
are so far relatively un-metered and leap-frog to smart metering. This will result in
better water balancing and a near-total reduction in non-revenue water.
